SF6 DENSITY MONITORS
MDS100/ex

The “MDS 100 ex” represents a product range of density monitors specially designed for
installation on high and medium voltage devices using SF6 gas.
At a stretch are reported the main technical and functional characteristics of the versions
realised for ABB ADDA (Lodi Italy).

Technical characteristics:
• Nominal diameter: 100 mm
• Case: AISI 304 stainless steel
• Transparent hood : policarbonate
• Pressure connection: AISI 316 Stainless steel flange ø 60mm with double O-Ring seal
• Bourdon spring: AISI 316 Ti Stainless steel
• Inner parts: Stainless Steel (AISI 316).
• Electric contacts: in Silver - Nickel alloy (Ag80Ni20) with magnetic older
• Electrical wiring: connector with grounding and cable gland
• Dial in bar/MPa scale
• Manufactured for external use.
• Anti-mist system with nylon aerator
• Protection against sun radiance through bent tile
• Device for compensation of pressure variations due to fluid’s local temperature changes
(system patented by C.A.M.I.)
• Dimensions and lay out: see drawing NC4554

• Making and breaking current: 0.7 A ( 1.0 A with magnetic holder)
• Switching capacity: 30W 50 VA , 250V max
• Nominal voltage: 250V max.
• Insulation between contacts and to heart: 2000V a 50Hz for 1’.
• IP protection: 55
• Hysteresis of contacts: 0.5 to 3 % of full scale value as magnetic holder adjustment.
• Accuracy: class 1 (at 20°C)
• Accuracy of contacts: ± 2% of full scale value between -30 to +60 °C with reference to
the nominal isochore curve (in the gaseous field of SF6).
• Molecular leakage value: <1X10-5 mbar l/sec.

Contacts calibration (at 20°C):

• Contact 1) 0.52 MPa
