Becoming an educator was an easy choice for me. At 13, I met a boy with down

syndrome who changed my life forever. At a young age, I was determined to pursue teaching.

Once we met him, I decided to dual major in early childhood education and special education. I

was inspired to make a change after witnessing all he and his family went through. Seeing these

struggles made me passionate about providing an environment that supports advocacy,

acceptance, and positive relationships with my students and their families.

I fully believe in being an advocate for all of my students. As an educator, there will be

times when I will recommend different resources and tactics that I believe will be most

beneficial for my students. Above all, I want to support my students and get them the education

they deserve.

I feel that it is essential to practice acceptance in my classroom. Every student is unique

in their own way and deserves to be accepted for who they are. I plan to practice this and teach

my students and families how to be accepting of others. Teaching students at a young age to

accept everyone will be an excellent tool for them to use as they grow up.

It is essential to build a positive relationship with my students, and their families will be

important in having a successful school year. I want to build a rapport within my classroom so

that my students feel as though they are safe and heard once they enter my room. I want to learn

about their interests outside of the classroom so that I can relate our material to something that

will interest them. Having open communication with parents will help to create a positive

environment for my students.

When I begin teaching, I plan to do what is best for my students and ensure they are

provided with the best education possible. I look forward to working with a school district that
