3.1.4.4 IGBT Gate Currents and Voltage

In order to observe these signals, 100x probes must again be used in differential mode, the potential of the
cathode rising regularly to 400 V or 450 V. In order to measure the current, it is preferable to use a current
probe, but the measurement can also be made, in differential, at the terminals of R26 on the Power Supply
and IGBT’s Gate Circuit board.

The IGBT is controlled by the gate G.

3.1.4.5 Current in the Ignition Coil

We can measure this current by using a current probe, or by the intermediary of the 1 Ω limitation resistor
which is in series with the coil.

The time of 1.25 ms is determined by the adjustment of P1 as seen in section 3.1.4.1.

In order to avoid excessive heating of the coil, the current must not exceed 6 A peak. The only way to reduce
the current is to diminish t1.
