4. HEATING

In order to ensure a long term stability of the optics, the spectrometer is installed into a more or less airtight
enclosure commonly called the "oven". The oven is temperature controlled.

The heating is monitored by a temperature regulator board and an internal ventilation. The cooling is
naturally done by the metal sheet dissipation and probable leaks, because the oven is not perfectly airtight.

4.1 Basic Principle


The concept and the regulation board have been developed for the 4460 instrument. When used with 3460
and MA, some functions are not used, so they will not be described in this manual. The following block
diagram shows the basic principle.
