So, to talk about direct marketing The two brands we have picked are Rolex and star

bucks
Rolex, targets a certain economic class. It positions itself targeting the rich and the ones
who crave for “class” rather than “beauty”
And since rolex has a niche marketing strategy, it associates itself with sports like tennis
and golf and sportsmen like roger federer and tiger woods.
Rolex has been promoting itself at the wimbeldon games for over 30 years now. More
than the world wide audience that watches the broadcast of the game, rolex targets
the audience present during the game at the arena because that set of people is
assumed to be the ideal target market for rolex. So that was one example of direct
marketing

Now if we come to the 2nd one, which is starbucks, they do direct marketing by sending
text messages to their customers like you can see in the image, where a customer
receives a sms about a discount on his regular beverage. Similarly customers receive
sms’s about new products, offers and other exciting promotions on their mobile
phones directly. This form of direct marketing is also known as mobile marketing,
this helps in keeping the existing customers engaged for longer terms and thus helps
in promotion as well as customer retention.
