QUICK GUIDELINES FOR BLOOD EXTRACTION:

 1st choice of area for blood extraction is in antecubital vein


 Last choice is in metacarpal vein
 Always put 2 identifiers for each blood sample, otherwise it will be discarded
 All sample should be until the markings in each tube
 Purple and gray top tube should be mix by inverting 8 to 10 times slowly
 Citrate tube should be mix by inverting 3 to 4 times slowly
 Red top tube should be mix by inverting 4 to 5 times slowly
 Do not put blood sample directly to the refrigerator right after taking it, leave it in the tube
rack for 15 to 20 mins before putting it inside the refrigerator
 Blue top tube should not be put in refrigerator, it can be place in a room temperature for 24
hours
 For all glucose test, use gray top tube and label if FASTING OR RANDOM
 For semen analysis time of collection is very important and it should reach the laboratory within
30 minutes from the time of collection, time of collection should be mention in the sample,
preferred if the patient will do it directly in the laboratory
