Unethical behavior:
Unethical behavior is an action that falls outside of what is considered
morally right.
Going beyond what is illegal and doing what is wrong.

ROOT CAUSES OF UNTHICAL BEHAVIOR AND THEIR PRACTICAL

EXAMPLES:
1. Not considering stakeholder view:
Organizations are not considering point of view of stakeholders like
suppliers, customers and employees.

Example:
A taxi driver has the responsibility to follow the traffic rules and regulations so the
safety of customer is upon the taxi driver. If he doesn’t drive safely it led to
unethical behavior.

2. False advertisement:
Organization rewards violate ethical standards for advertising.

Example:
Organization claims one quality products in advertisement and produce low
quality products.

3. Multiple standards:
Organizations sets multiple standards for employees for working at home
or at workplace.
Example:
Dual standards lead to unethical behavior like
working hours etc.
organization do not make full payments for working hours.

4. Abusive language:
Managerial values of an organization hurt personal integrity.

Example:
Discrimination of employees at workplace on the basis of race, gender, religion
etc.

5. No check and balance of position and power:

There is no much check and balance between position and power of an
employee.

Example:
A project manager may lie to a customer about project. If the employees witness
this, they
may assume they are free to do the same. The employees are scared to defy their
manager in fear of losing their job.

6. Investment on short term development:

Organization investment on short term development rather than long
term and lack of knowledge of employees affecting business as well.

Example:
Lack of knowledge towards latest technology and long-term goals is unethical.
