Name

Colona
(Sulpiride + Mebeverine HCl)
Film Coated Tablets
Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Sulpiride 25 mg
Mebeverine Hydrochloride 100 mg
Properties and Actions
Colona was carefully designed to achieve effective relief of gastro-intestinal spasms and colics
specially when presenting as psychosomatic manifestation of nervous tension, mental stress,
anxiety or other psychic states.

Colona contains Sulpiride which is a selective central dopamine D2 receptor blocker. It exerts a
mood elevating effect (due to its neuroleptic effect) and anti-emetic action.

Mebeverine is a potent direct antispasmodic acting mainly on the smooth muscles of the gastro-
intestinal tract and in particular more effective on the colonic spasm. Mebeverine being not an
anticholinergic compound does not produce any of the troublesome side effects of atropine or
other anti-spasmodics with atropine-like properties.

Colona is, therefore, an antispasmodic especially effective in functional gastro-intestinal disorders

and is particularly safe in elderly group who might be suffering from prostatic enlargement,
glaucoma, or cardiac problems.
