MODULE 4: THE CREATION STORY

Module Duration: 6th Weeks

Overview:
After introducing the preliminary part of the Old Testament, we will be focusing on
one of the most significant part in the history of salvation, the creation story. The
creation accounts, namely Yahwist and the priestly accounts are found in the 1st and
2nd Chapters of the book of Genesis. This module will aid students to understand the
Church teachings in relation to God’s creation and will also lead them to appreciate
more the beauty and goodness of all that God has created. Sub-topics of the module
are the following;
➢ Creation out of nothing
➢ Erroneous belief in relation to creation
➢ Creation as work of the Trinity
➢ Appropriation of the work of Creation
➢ Creation with Time
➢ Freedom of the Creator
➢ Goodness of Creation
➢ The Rationality of Creation
Desired Learning Outcome (ILO):
At the end of the topic, student must have:
1. Discussed why Pantheism is a contradiction to our Catholic teaching on
creation.
2. Compared and contrasted the two accounts of creation found the book of
Genesis.
3. Constructed an art work showing ways and means on how to protect the
integrity and beauty of God’s creation.
