According to an article posted on the University of California's website, thay are one of many businesses taking the steps to elimate costs not needed to survive in today's society. The University is taking step such as reducing staff hiring and non-essential cost such as travel. They are also placing great restricitions on senior level bonus. I never really thought about a university having to take measures to stay a float in today's world but after reading this article I can see how imporatant it it. The University can't continue to survive based on only the tuition money received. University just like any other businesses have the other expenses that they have to pay for just to keep the building standing. http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/article/20776 Reply Quote Mark as Read

In "Mortgage Modifications Can't Catch Foreclosures" (Businessweek.com, August 4, 2009) Elise Craig writes that lenders have modified more than 235,000 mortgages under an Obama Administration program, but the first half of 2009 saw 1.8 million foreclosures. It's called the Making Home Affordable Program, and it is on track to offer modifications to 3 million to 4 million homeowners over the next few years. Reply Quote Mark as Read
