Foreword

The Indonesian National Standard (SNI) of cold rolled stainless steel in the form of sheets and
coils (Bj TK D) is a new standard and is based on the following considerations:

1. Stainless steel products at this time are needed by the community and have been produced
in the country but no standard has been controlled.

2. To maintain and protect customers and users in Indonesia as well as to ensure the
sustainability of manufacturers and the quality of materials, quality standards for each
product that distinguishes stainless steel products with quality control and the stainless steel
that is produced without quality control and sold without trademark are required.

This standard was prepared by the Technical Committees of 77-01, Metal, Steel and steel
products and have been discussed in technical meetings and agreed at a consensus meeting in
Jakarta on 29th May 2012 which was attended by the technical committees, manufacturers,
consumers, government, associations, experts, test laboratory, as well as other relevant
government agencies. SNI has also gone through a national consensus which is the referendum
on 11th July 2012 to 10th September 2012 and directly approved to be the SNI Final Draft
(RASNI) to be stipulated into SNI

7 Sampling
a. Sampling should only be performed by authorized personnel;
b. Personnel taking the samples should be given discretion by the manufacturer;
c. Sampling is done randomly in the production line and or in the warehouses manufacturers;
d. For products in the warehouse of producers, (product) should be grouped in such a way
that each group is easily identified and each group should as much as possible grouped
based on the kind of type, grade, size, chemical composition, etc;
e. For coil products up to 10(ten) rolls from the specification/similar type, one sheet is taken
for sample and for the rest of each 10 (ten) coils a sheet sample should be taken of up to
as many as 10 samples with size of one meter from the outer end of the coil;
f. For sheet products amounting up to 3000 sheets from the specification/similar type, one
sheet is taken for sample and for the rest of each 3000 pieces 1 (one) sample sheet
should be taken and to a maximum of 10 samples.

8 Test Method

8.1 Nature of appearance

Bj TK D is done visually and without using tools.

8.2 Measurement of dimensions

8.2.1 Thickness

Thickness measurement is taken at a distance of a minimum of 9.5 mm from the edge of the
product in the direction of the roll, except for the width of less than 25.4 mm, the measurement
is taken at a minimum distance of 3.2 mm from the edge of the product.

8.2.2 Width

Material width is measured from transverse direction in the rolling process.

8.2.3 Length

The length is measured from the longitudinal direction in the direction of rolling (longitudinal).

8.2.4 Form

8.2.4.1 Flatness test

Flatness test is conducted on Bj TK D which has been cut to be sampled, placed on the leveler
table without tension. The wave height shown is the value of the flatness of the measurement
results as shown in Figure 1.

8.2.4.2 Concave side test

The measurement of concave side form is carried out on Bj TK D in the direction of rolling as
shown in Figure 2.

8.2.4.3 Angle test

Bj TK D is placed on a flat plane without tension, then each diagonal of Bj TK D is measured

and the difference in the two diagonal represents the value of angle as shown in Figure 3.

8.3 Test of chemical composition

The test of chemical composition is in accordance with ASTM A 751-01.

8.4 Test of mechanical properties

8.4.1 Test of tensile strength

The test of tensile strength is in accordance with SNI 0408.

8.4.2 Test of yield strength

The test of yield strength is in accordance with SNI 0408.

8.4.3 Test of elongation

The test of elongation is in accordance with SNI 0408.

8.4.4 Test of hardness

The test of hardness is in accordance with SNI 0406 or SNI 0409.

9 Terms pass the test

9.1 Bj TK D Coils and sheets are stated to have passed the test when they have met all quality
requirements provisions in Article 6.

9.2 If some of the quality requirements are not met, 1 (one) time re-testing can be done with the
samples of two times more than the first sample that comes from the similar group (in
accordance with article 7.d).

9.2.1 If the results of all quality requirements of these retesting are met, the group will have
passed the test.

9.2.2 If the one of the results of the quality requirements of these retesting is not met, then the
group did not pass the test.

10 Marking

Each packing of Bj TK D coils and sheets that have been examined is labeled by stating:
a. Factory name and trademark;
b. Commodities that indicate the type of product (Bj TK D grade);
c. Specifications of Bj TK D, sheets or coils;
d. Size;
e. Identification number.
