Activity 1.1
Making biological drawings
Apparatus and materials required
◆ large sheet of plain paper
◆ HB pencils, access to pencil sharpener, good eraser (preferably plastic)
◆ specimen to draw, preferably relating to the work on classification of animals; for
example, a dead or living woodlouse, a leg from a dead locust
◆ hand lens (optional)
Safety and welfare
Some students may not wish to handle live invertebrates. If live animals are used, they
should be handled gently and returned to the wild after use.
