MIGUEL
Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri was born on April 19, 1970, in San Juan Puerto Rico.
His parents were Luis Gallego Sánchez (Spanish) and Marcela Basteri (Italian). He has been
married twice to Stephanie Salas (1988‐1992) and Aracely Arámbula (2005‐2009). He has three
children: Luis Miguel, Alejandro and Sergio).
He has sung in multiple genres and styles, including pop songs, ballads, boleros, tangos, jazz,
big band, and mariachi. He began his musical career in Mexico in 1980 singing at the wedding
of the daughter of the Mexican national president José López Portillo. He has won more than
120 awards in a personal capacity, for his songs and albums, and is the youngest singer to
receive a Grammy, Luis Miguel is also known for his high‐grossing live performances, he ranks
number two on Billboard's Greatest of All‐Time Latin Artists chart.
In 2015, Luis Miguel had to cancel a series of concerts in Mexico City because he has an
incurable disease.
Currently, he lives in the United States specifically in Miami, where he lives in a luxurious and
exclusive penthouse.
