Cabin ift/lowering function
op*
‘Symptom description
Occasionally lft oF lowering of the main cabin is either very slow or jerky and adjustment of the system according to
the service manual or Parts and Service News 2088 does not sole the problem
Possible causes
Contamination in the oil may be causing the balance valve spool in the main hydraulic valve to become sticky, This
results in regular movement of the valve spool Ifthe hydraulic oll and filter are not changed the sticky spool can
cause permanent damage to the valve body.
Solution
The problem may be solved by changing the oll anc fiter, then flushing the system with new, clean cil (a full tank is,
not necessary) and then change the oil a second time with a new fier.
1, Close all cylinders by bringing the cabin and forks to the ground, Mark the hydraulic oil level on the tank.
Remove ail old ol from the tank.
2, Fillthe tank 1/4 full with fresh clean oil, Be very careful ta use enough oil to run the pump without cavitation
(Sucking air). Warning: The pump will be damaged if it runs without oll for even a very short time.
Connect the main lift hose to the filter inlet using a suitable “T* connection.
Operate the main cabin lift for 2-3 minutes. The oil will be circulated from the
tank, through the pump and valve and back through the filter and intothe tank.
Do not overheat the pump motor. If necessary, operate the lift in bursts of 30
seconds each time,
5, Remove all oil from the tank (warning, it may be not), clean the inside of the
tank and replace the hydraulic oi filter. Refill to the correct level with new fresh i
clean cil It is also recommended to fier the oil when filing to avoid any
possibilty of foreign particles entering the system.
6. Reconnect the lift hose.
7. Test the lifting function and adjust as necessary. ~
Ifthe above does not solve the problem, the only solution is to change the valve, P/N
103372, We do not recommend that yau open the valve, particularly during warranty, because this can only be done
in controlled atmospheric conditions and the pressure chamber adjustment requires specialist equipment.

Prevention
In over 90% of valves returned to the supplier as faulty, the cause is found to be contamination in the oil and not
faulty components,
For all trucks, which use proportional valves, we specify that the hydraulic oll and both oil and air fters should be
changed after the first 200 aperating hours and every 1000 hours or yearly after that. Oil filing procedure should be
carried out with exceptionally clean containers and absolutely no cloth containing loose fibres should be used. Always
use the oil types specified in section one of the service manual
The addition of a ground cable and new type filters will avoid possible damage caused by ESD. See Parts and Service
News 2128 and 2130 for more information,
