The main purpose of this work is to assess seismic hazard on rocks, for the region of Northwest
Algeria, in order to provide engineers and planners a basic tool for seismic risk mitigation. Seismic
sources and their seismological and geological parameters as well as the attenuation of ground shaking
motion models has been analyzed within a probabilistic approach in the framework of the formalism
of a logic tree. The identification of active faults was a very important step in this study. Results are
presented as relationships between values of peak ground acceleration (PGA) and annual frequency of
exceedance.
