Affirmative Team

Introduction:

Good morning Ma’am Arjane, my fellow classmates and to the other team. The topic for our
debate is The Positive Impacts of Tourism on the Economy, we the affirmative team believe that
this statement is true.

Rebuttal:

(JOBS & LIVELIHOOD) : This is wrong because tourism plays a crucial role in fostering
nation’s economy. Employment creation is one of the process through which our economies
sustained. In fact, it is one of the main contribution of tourism to the economy. Tourism is one of
the world’s biggest sector that generates employment. There are a lot of investment in tourism
development that’s why job opportunities open up for population. Tourism can also provide an
alternative income to people who are unemployed and relies to dangerous work for their
livelihood. An example of this is selling native products to the tourist for their souvenirs.
Agricultural activities to be experience by the tourist for their experience

(INCOME & CURRENCY EXHANGE) : S/he also said that tourism causes leakage where in
fact, tourism generates a lot of income that 80% of it goes to the development of our economy.
To support this statement, they invest to some of the infrastructure that creates employment,
they invest in renovating unused areas that will become tourism oriented facilities and many
more. Leakage can be reduce by using local products and local services. Tourist loves to
experience our own trademarks, so why bother investing to an imported goods and services if
we can use our own. An increase in tourism flow can generate an increase in Gross Domestic
Product (GDP). Tourism also has the ability to make money through foreign exchange earnings.
Tourism expenditures generate income to the host economy. The money that the country
makes from tourism can then be reinvested in the economy. It can be spend on the country’s
growing tourism industry.

Recap:

Our first speaker has already explained ……

Arguments:

:Today I will be talking to you about Positive Contribution of Tourism in Philippine’s Economy
through the years. My first point is tourism industry mostly contributed in our country’s GDP. The
reason for this the country’s campaign “It’s more fun in the Philippines” attracted thousands of
foreign visitors because of our natural attractions, and traditional activities like festival. Now to
my second point, travel and tourism directly support millions of jobs or about 5.8 percent of
employment last year. The following employment is by the hotels, travel agents, airlines and
other passenger transportation services, as well as the activities of the restaurant and leisure
industries that are directly supported by tourists. (Remo, A. 2016, April 21). This is because
tourism continues to grow, and as it continually developing, more jobs are to be open. It gives
people stability to their economic background and peace for their future. My third and final point
would be tourism for developing infrastructure. This is because, tourism promotes the
development of infrastructure in a way that will benefit our country. One of the positive effect to
this matter is abandoned natural places would be renovated to use for leisure activities and
such that is related to tourism.
