“Enlightening the Dark Side”

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. I am here right now in front to

welcome you to the dark side. The dark side where criminal mind, lies. According

to Stephen J. Morse book, Guilty Mind, Crimes are prohibited act or omission, if

there is a legal duty to act with few exceptions, an accompanying mental state. In

simple terms, Crimes are prohibited act. Those who commit crimes are known to

be criminals, and some of them are psychopaths. Criminal and Psychopath

brains are said to be different. According to a study led by University of

Wisconsin-Madison researchers, Psychopaths’ brain has reduced connections

between the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC), the part of the brain

responsible for sentiments such as empathy and guilt, and the amygdala, which

mediates fear and anxiety.

Everyone is unique in every aspect. However, Dr. Samenow said that the

criminal is sure that he is unique. According to his book entitled The Criminal’s

Sense of Uniqueness, He is certain that he outsmart others because he thought

he’s smarter than anyone, and he can easily get away with his crime. A true

master of deceit he is. The brain is the one to be blamed for the violence caused

by any person. According to Science, 50 percent of the difference in crime is

caused by genetic control. Babies who grow up to become violent offenders are

much more probable to have mothers who smoke or drink during pregnancy.
Poor nutrition during pregnancy also increases the chances of offending later on.

Even birth complications – particularly when coupled with social risk variables

such as maternal neglect – increase the chances of violence in adults. And one

of the main suspects in shaping psychopathic behavior is the amygdala – the

emotional seat. There is a key emotional deficit among psychopaths. They lack

awareness, remorse, and guilt. They're just not feeling the way we're doing. And

let's not forget about toxins like lead from the environment. They damage the

brain, and antisocial behavior is not surprisingly associated with them. The

criminal thinks that he shares little with others and is likely to harbor their

disrespect. He's not concerned about the other's view. It is demeaning even to

accept advice. Just thinking something makes it that way for him. The gravest

result of this sense of uniqueness is that the criminal thinks that he is free of any

law.

Mens rea, the Greek word for Guilty Mind, is central to criminal liability. Once

guilt's presence is absent, one is exempted to crime. A justification exists if the

behavior of the defendant was the socially preferred thing or the "right" thing to

do under the S.J. Morse circumstances, although otherwise satisfying the

variance requirements of criminal liability. It was a positive "balance of evils" and

she acted for the socially desirable reason. For example, it may be an intentional

murder of a human being or self-defense. In some cases, the defendant is a

rational and accountable actor in instances of justification, but she is not

criminally liable because under the conditions her behavior is socially acceptable.

An excuse, on the other hand, exists when an actor committed undeniably

unwanted and criminal behavior but is not responsible because she acted

unreasonably blameworthily, as in the excuse of legal insanity, or was compelled

to offend, as in the excuse of compulsion. Lastly, criminal liability does not exist if

an affirmative defense is established.

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how

lightfast travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first and is waiting for

it. Terry Pratchett's statement is true. Each one of us has darkness before the

light. As for what Stephen King said, "Monsters are real, ghosts are real too.

They live inside us, and sometimes, they win." They are inside our head. They

will control our actions if we can't battle them. Who would have thought our brain

holds this much power? The power to control humanity. The power to command

us and the power to destroy peace. After all, the true master of deception is our

brain and no one else.
