or thicker than the other arm.  Explain this phenomenon.

- Because of the additional requirement to serve the ball, the serving arm is
subjected to significantly more physical stress. As a result, the bones thicken in
response to the increased stress from the working muscle.

2. Riza has a fractured femur after a fall.  What are the risks involved
in a fractured femur?

- Bleeding: You may lose more blood if your fracture pierces your skin than if it
doesn’t pierce your skin.
- Break your hip: femur is the strongest bone in body and it support the upper body
weight of a person.
- Shock
- Nerve damage
- Infection
- Blood clots

3. Ana, 80-year-old woman, is suffering from osteoporosis.  What


health teaching measures should you include in your plan of care
for Ana?

- Age-appropriate weight-bearing exercise


- Osteoporosis drug therapy 
- Adequate intakes of calcium and vitamin D are important and
deficiencies need to be treated.
