NATIONAL BUILDING CODE

The National Building Code of the Philippines sets the policy of the State to
safeguard life, health, property, and public welfare, consistent with the principles of sound
environmental management and control; and to this end, make it the purpose of this Code to
provide for all buildings and structures, a framework of minimum standards and requirements
to regulate and control their location, site, design, quality of materials, construction, use,
occupancy, and maintenance.
The code provides and sets the standard so you’ll live comfortably, safely and for the
general welfare of the public. From the size of your doors, windows and rooms, to the height
of your stairs and floors, to your firewalls and property fences, to the size of the sidewalks,
driveways, roads and pavements. Literally everything you see is based on the standards the
code provides.
