Abstract

In recent years, there has been a steady increase of population in Kabupaten Street,

Sleman, which directly impacts the infrastructure of the area. City developments such as hotels,

apartments, houses, shopping centers and such are causing the transfer of land functions that

were previously “open land” into closed buildings, which makes the drainage that originally

functions as natural drainage, where water directly seeps into the ground cannot occur due to

buildings.

An inadequate drainage system can be caused by a capacity that is smaller than the

existing discharge, lack of maintenance or a drainage and disposal system that is no longer

suitable. As such, evaluation of the drainage system needs to be done so that runoff water does

not stagnate and disturb comfort. Hence, the need for researching this problem arose.

This study aims to evaluate the drainage system and to determine the factors that affect

the existing drainage building that causes flooding. The result of the calculation analysis is a

comparison of the existing maximum discharge with the planned discharge from rain data. In the

design discharge analysis using the rational method with a return period of 2.5 and 10 years.

While the rain frequency analysis uses the log pearson III test and data testing using the

Chi-kuadrat test. The results of this study are the ability of existing drainage to drain water from

the peak discharge plan. So there are 3 channels that do not flood at the 2-year return period,

namely channels 10, 11 and 14. At the 5-year return period only channel 11 is safe against

flooding. At the 10-year return period, all channels are flooded.

Key word: Drainage, Return period 2.5 and 10 years, Rational Method
