SPECIFICATION REPORT TO ACCOMPANY THE SUB-ESTIMATE FOR

PROVIDING PIER PROTECTION FOR THE WORK OF CONSTRUCTION


OF ROB AT KM 40/4 OF TRICHY - CHIDAMBARAM ROAD IN LIEU OF LC
NO.206 AT RAILWAY KM 284/9 TO 285/0 IN BETWEEN SILLAKUDI AND
KALLAGAM RAILWAY STATIONS.

NAME OF MAIN WORK:

Construction of ROB at KM 40/4 of Trichy - Chidambaram Road in lieu of LC


No.206 at Railway KM 284/9 to 285/0 in between Sillakudi and Kallagam Railway
Stations.

NAME OF SUB WORK:

Providing Pier Protection for the work of Construction of ROB at KM 40/4 of


Trichy - Chidambaram Road in lieu of LC No.206 at Railway KM 284/9 to 285/0 in
between Sillakudi and Kallagam Railway Stations.

SCHEME AND AUTHORITY:

This work has been proposed to be taken up under Railway works


programme 2007 - 2008 and administratively sanctioned for Rs.2900.00lakhs vide
GO Ms. No.272 / Highways (HQ -2) Department Dated. 13.11.2007.

LOCATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF ROAD:

The existing Level Crossing LC.No.206 is located at Railway Km 284/9 to


285/0 between Sillakudi and Kallagam Railway Stations. The proposed ROB is
located at Km 40/4 of Trichy - Chidambaram Road (NH 81) within the Ariyalur (H)
Construction and Maintenance Sub -division Jurisdiction.

NECESSITY :

To prevent the damage for the piers from vehicular collision, pier protection is
proposed. A wall of 0.3m thickness around the pier of height 1.5m above the service
road level is to be done. Then gravel filling is to be done between the pier protection
wall and piers.
PROVISIONS:

1. Earth work excavation for Foundation of Protective wall.


2. VRCC M25 concrete for Foundation and Protective wall.
3. Filling behind the Protective wall with excavated carted Earth.
RATES
The estimate is prepared based on the Highways Department Schedule of
rates for the year 2018-2019 and PWD schedule of rates for the year 2018-2019 and
Local market rates for materials not mentioned in SOR.
On sanction the work will be carried out as per standard specifications of
SSRB, MORT&H specifications, IRC Specifications, BIS codes and other relevant
instructions issued by the higher authorities of the Highways Department from time
to time.
