Storytelling

Storytelling is a crucial leadership skill because it is quick, effective, liberating, natural,

energizing, renewing, persuasive, collaborative, all-encompassing, entertaining, moving,

unforgettable, and honest. Making sense of organizations is aided by stories. Storytelling and

attentive listening go hand in hand because active listening and acknowledging what the

storyteller is saying will make one feel closer to them. Establishing a connection between the

storyteller and the audience benefits the organization and the community.

It is the duty of leaders to provide guidance. The act of "sense-giving for others" involves

first making sense of this complex situation for oneself and then educating subordinates to affect

their "sense-making for themselves." Then, one finds a resolution to any issue. Sensing-giving

differs from traditional management communication in that it has a specific aim in mind when

managing the information transfer. Traditional management communication, in contrast,

concentrates on educating and persuading the audience, whereas feeling giving concentrates on

disseminating knowledge to motivate the audience.

Yes, honest communication between board members and shareholders is crucial since it is the

simplest approach to avoid the misunderstandings and dissatisfaction among shareholders that

might spur activism. Additionally, it ensures that the general public is informed about the board's

actions and the reasons why those actions support business goals. Not merely hearing what is

said, but also absorbing, processing, and understanding it requires active listening. In addition to

enhancing knowledge and communication, listening also affects how others feel when

conversing with you.
