Magtatatlong taon na ring JO employee si Fredrick Garcia bilang ambulance crew na all-around ang
trabaho sa rescue. 

Sumasapat pa naman daw ang suweldo para sa isa niyang anak, pero maganda pa rin daw kung may
itataas pa ito. 

"Makakatulong talaga sa mga rescuer iyan para sa mga personal na gamit, mga tactical equipment.
Bukod doon sa pino-provide ng government, meron pa kaming pino-provide sa sarili para lalong
makatulong sa trabaho," ani Garcia. 

Pero kung tutuusin, tumaas na umano ang suweldo ng mga rescuer sa Imus mula sa P215 kada araw.
Ang planning of cer na si Jad De Luna, nagsimula na walang suweldo nang 6 na buwan noong 2016. 

"Bago kami makasuweldo noon, 6 months pa kasi nga, siyempre wala pa sa budget so volunteer ka
nga muna. Mahirap magpakabayani, totoo naman. Kaya lang, minsan hindi po talaga matitiis 'yung
mga kababayan mo," ani De Luna. 

Sa Senado, isinusulong ang pagpapabuti sa sitwasyon sa trabaho ng mga rescuer matapos malaman
na apat sa limang nasawi habang rumeresponde sa gitna ng bagyong Karding sa Bulacan ay casual o
JO employee lang. 

"We were told na sila ay casual. And imagine, for so long, ginagawa nila ito, pero casual employees pa
rin sila. This is really a wake up call to all our lawmakers especially sa ating executive department na
masyadong unfair na," ani Sen. Joel Villanueva. 

Ayon kay Villanueva, hindi nagkakaiba ang sitwasyon ng mga nasabing rescuer sa iba pa kaya
isinusulong niya ang Civil Service Security of Tenure Act na layong ihinto ang 'endo' sa mga casual at
contractual worker ng pamahalaan. 

“All over the country, magugulat kayo, 10, 15, 20 years of service and they’re still casual workers...
This is so unfortunate... We have been raising this particular issue almost every year, especially
during budget season," ani Villanueva. 

Suportado rin ni Sen. Win Gatchalian na mabigyan ng formal item sa LGU ang mga rescuer para
magkaroon sila ng permanenteng posisyon. 

Itinutulak din ni Sen. Bong Go ang pagtatayo ng Department of Disaster Resilience, kung saan may
hazard pay rin para sa mga tauhan nito at ng local disaster resilience of ces. 

"Sariling buhay po nila ang kanilang itinaya, sa ngalan ng serbisyo. This is the least that we can do for
all our heroic servants," ani Go. 

Nananawagan din sa pamahalaan ang disaster response expert na si Dr. Ted Esguerra na bigyan ng
sapat na benepisyo, kagamitan, at pagsasanay ang mga responder para hindi na maulit ang trahedya
sa Bulacan. 

"Sana si Sec. [Benhur] Abalos, iakyat niyo kay President [Bongbong Marcos] na bigyang-halaga ang
mga responder. Ibigay natin sa kanila kasi 24 typhoons ang meron tayo, ayon sa siyensiya. Nine to 11
will make landfall, around 3 to 4 will be categorized… So makakasagupa pa rin tayo ng katulad ng
nangyari sa San Miguel," ani Esguerra.
