Write your ONE PAGE reaction paper about this movie clip from THE PURSUIT OF
HAPPINESS: Job Interview.

As I watch the video, I'm contemplating whether to applaud the action or consider
whether anything similar could actually happen in reality. Sure, it's motivating, and you may use
it or look forward to it if the same thing happens to you while you're searching for a job. I
applaud Chris' commitment to getting the job; despite not having enough money to pay his
parking tickets and painting his apartment, he still managed to go for the interview. This
demonstrates his desire to land the job. I also like how the company treated him equally,
including the interviewer who took the time to speak with him despite his looks and the
receptionist who politely allowed him to be interviewed. But when applying for a job, you must
follow some etiquette rules regarding your attire. On the other hand, the clips are highlighted by
his confidence when responding to the questions. From the way he asserted himself as the top
student in his class of 12, as well as the way he acknowledged that if he didn't know the answer,
he would admit it and find answer for it. It demonstrates his will to succeed and his way of
thinking. When answering a question in front of multiple interviewers, courage and confidence
are absolutely needed. I particularly like how he responds to the interviewer's question on what
would happen if a candidate showed up for the interview without a shirt on. Before I hear his
response, I consider how I would react if I were in his shoes. I'm considering listening to him out
first because perhaps there were difficulties he had to solve before the interview or maybe there
something happened along the way before he got himself to be interviewed. I was amazed by his
response, "He must’ve had on some really nice pants." I didn't consider responding to that
question in that manner. He thinks creatively, and it works. In the brief time he had, he was able
to think of a response that pleased the interviewer. This is where I realize and value how crucial
having the presence of mind is.
