Assignment: The Nature of HRM

1. Describe the four goals of Human Resource Management. Do you think some human

resource management goals are more important than others? Why, or why not?

Human Resources Management has four goals namely, facilitating organizational

competitiveness, enhancing productivity and quality, adhering to legal and social obligations, and

promoting individual growth and development. The first goal, facilitating organizational

competitiveness, states that in order to be capable of leading, a unit within an organization must

have goals in order to put to work the vision on the department’s blueprint. Being competitive aids

in the implementation of human resource objectives within an organization. As emerging

competitiveness can stimulate innovation and serve as a foundation for management teams to

engage with their employees in this environment, it must be approached with caution because

departmental competitiveness can have an impact on the firm. Second, improving productivity and

quality can be described as seeking the ideal system that allows its employees to be efficient while

also producing high employee engagement, which contributes to enhanced employee performance

and increased production efficiency, which can result in profitability. Third, as the human

resources compliance role of human resource adds value to an organization, compliance with legal

and social obligations is required in an organization. Since following the rules has always been a

requirement, compliance with these obligations is a critical aspect because it can help govern the

relationship between management and its employees. Lastly, being dynamic and fluid at all times

can promote individual growth and development not only for its employees but also for employers,

seeing as human resource enables programs that orient, train, and develop employees.

Having such human resource management objectives can assist a company in bridging the

gap between employee performance and the organization's strategic objectives. To conclude, I
believe that no human resource management goal is superior to another because they all work

optimally to keep and improve the organization by holistically improving the skills, knowledge,

capabilities, and competencies required to perform well on the job.

2. What is the importance of studying Human Resource Management?

The significance of studying Human Resource Management is that it enables us to

understand the functions of human resource management as a prospective employee/employer and

provides motivation and reasoning and answers the question on how and why human resource and

management make the decisions that they do. Knowing effective management and successfully

leading a team can exponentially increase the company's greatness through team management.

Moreover, in terms of specifics, human resource management is an essential component of

understanding and enforcing employee-related laws and practices. Understanding human behavior

and conflict resolution is also important because it serves as a guide for how to interact and work

from the recruitment, interview, selection, training, placement, transfers, promotion, resignation,

retrenchment, punishment for wrongdoers, and rewards for those performing exceptionally well.

Lastly, studying human resources can be advantageous at work and in life in general because it

encourages leaders to make decisions and recognize their overall impact.
