It is said to be an omen of
the devil, so it is unlucky.

TOUCHING WOOD
3 Touching wood has it`s origin in the
church. In medieval churches they
claimed to have the cross on which
Jesus was crucified, so believers
would touch the cross so that Christ
would protect them from evil.

BLOWING OUT
BIRTHDAY CANDLES

Blowing out the candles is an act of
good luck. At the beginning of this
belief, in addition to blowing them, an
extra candle was added to symbolize
prosperity in the years to come.

OPENING AN UMBRELLA

A superstition of bad luck
that has a very logical
explanation. In the past, it
was customary to open
umbrellas before leaving home
and close them when entering.

BROKEN MIRROR
The broken mirror symbolizes a bad
fario, a kind of punishment that

grants several months of bad luck.
This belief was born in Venice at the
end of the sixteenth century.
