CASE STUDY: Changes, changes

1. Point out which changes are occurring in the business that affect HRM.

 Cutting benefits entirely and having her employees work for her on a contract
basis, instead of being full-time employees.

 Allowing employees to telecommute one to two days per week.

 Closing the physical office and making her company a virtual organization.

 Concerns over productivity if allowing work from home.

 The retirement of five employees will be an impact since they are skilled
individuals who are closely related to and knowledgeable about the
organization's history.

2. What are some considerations the company and HR should be aware of when
making changes related to this case study?

 When making judgments about changes, they should think about the thoughts
of all of their workers.

 They should be more conscious because making changes quickly would have a
negative impact on employee’s motivation and it would be stressful. Instead,
they should make changes progressively. Because an employee who lacks
motivation will be non-productive.

3. What would the initial steps be to start planning for these changes?

 All employees should be informed about the company's plans for achieving its
intent through communication from management. An efficient strategy to start
the change process is to understand the employees' present motivation.

4. What would your role be in implementing these changes? What would Jennifer’s
role be?

 My goal is to inform Jennifer of the potential consequences of these

adjustments to the company. Furthermore, encouraging the workforce to accept
the changes and process improvements as a whole. Jennifer must be innovative.
Her responsibility is to review all changes and evaluate the recommendations
that was given.
