In our country, the SOGIE Equality Bill was passed to prohibit discrimination on sexual

orientations and gender identity. If the government agrees on promoting equal rights to the LGBTQ
community and homosexuality, we should too. We all have equal rights when it comes to our choices,
and it includes the celebration of love through relationships or marriage. Gay couples and the LGBTQ
deserve equal treatment under the law and society. In the first place, the SOGIE Bill and the 1987
Philippine Constitution under Article 111 state that every person has the right to be free from
discrimination and freedom of expression. If so, the government and the people under it should stick to
the concept of freedom and treat the LGBT people normally.

Moreover, according to the Bible, Matthew 7 states that "Do not judge, or you too will be
judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will
be measured to you. " In my perspective, judging people based on sexuality is pure evil. There are
homosexual couples and people that do good deeds than others. They have names, characteristics,
values, and emotions, and prohibiting them from their dignity and right is wrong.

Additionally, Pope Francis' statements on the Worth Youth Day about homosexuality states that
"If a person is gay and seeks out the Lord and is willing, who am I to judge? I was paraphrasing by heart
the Catechism of the Catholic Church where it says that these people should be treated with delicacy
and not be marginalized." Pope Francis himself dictates that homosexual people are no different from
us. They believe in Lord and should be treated equally. Additionally, the word Catechism Pope Francis
used means compassion, respect, and sensitivity. It opposes the church's teachings where they define
homosexual people as "disrespectful" or "sexual disorder." The church and the people should prescribe
to the teachings of Catechism as it only wants everyone to be free and loved.
