Mood Management Theory
Festinger, Leon
1957
Connection of the Theory in the Research Study
Mood management theory has greatly influenced academic perspectives on media content as a
mechanism for coping and self-regulation. Recent studies has broadened this perspective by
presenting a more general view of the impacts of media use on well-being that goes beyond mood
and attention management.
Role of the Theory in the Research Study
Since one of the goals of the study is to conduct a theoretical framework, I chose this theory since it
clarifies the study's variables and connections. As a result, the relationship between the theory and
our study's development is realistic.

This is useful for clarifying how people use media to meet their needs, understanding motivations for
media behavior, and identifying functions or consequences that result from these needs, motives,
and media behavior. To describe social media use, on the other hand.
