Que 1. Write three digital artifact in digital radiography image.

Answer-1

Artifacts - Any undesirable objects OR structures recorded on the radiography image cause degraded

image quality. An artifact is a structure or an appearance that is not normally present on the

radiograph and is produced by natural and artificial means, such as –

• Patients such as motion, poor preparations.

• Technologists such as less knowledge, less training.

• Machines, there are various artifacts from CR and DR radiography machines.

1. Noisy Detector Power Supply Artifacts –

Appearance - Vertical lines, which are symmetrical around the center of the image

Cause - Caused by a noisy detector power supply

2. Loose Cone Artifacts –

Appearance - White edges.

Cause - Cone has fallen out of the x-ray tube port and is blocking the collimator from opening.
3. Bar code Artifacts –

Appearance - Barcode appear on screen

Cause - Cause by a failure in a data module or the detector

Que 2. Mention three techniques/algorithms to remove those artifacts.

Solutions of corresponding artifacts are following –
1. Noisy Detector Power Supply Artifacts – Replace power supply.

2. Loose Cone Artifacts -- Remove the collimator and re-attach the cone to the tube port

3. Bar code Artifacts – Perform bad pixel calibration, if calibration fail then replace detector
