Worksheet 1 area of a quadrilateral + trigonometric ratios

Solution of the worksheet

Ex3
Area of a rectangle = length x width
=2.8x4.5=12.6cm2
Ex4
In order to find the area of the shaded part we need to find the area
of the bigger triangle first , then the area of the smaller triangle
A of the bigger triangle=LxW=12x14=168cm2
A of the smaller triangle=LxW=8x10=80cm2
Now all we have to do is to subtract the area of the smaller triangle
from the area of the bigger one. We are then left with the area of the
shaded part
Abig – Asmall=168-80=88cm2

Ex2
Area of a parm = base x height =3x8=24cm2

Ex1
Area of a trapezoid = ½ (sum of the parallel sides) x height
= ½ (17)x4 = 34 cm2

Ex6
Area of a parm is = b x h = 54 cm2 (given)
So 54=y x 6
So y= 54/6 = 9 cm

Ex4
Similarly, area of trapezoid = ½(sum of parallel sides)xh=63cm2
So 63cm2= ½(6+12)xh= ½(18)h= 9h
So h= 63/9 = 7 cm
