Oral Skills

Course description

This course is meant for students who hope to develop their speaking skills (saying words
correctly with the right stress, saying sentences with the right intonation, do well with oral
presentation, and express what they need in English in a more effective way.)

At the end of this course, students are expected to:

- Say the sounds of English, vowels and consonants, correctly.


- Look up a word in the dictionary and get the way it is pronounced by checking out the
phonetic symbols.
- Place the stress right in words and sentences.
- Express what they need and how they feel in different situations.
- Use strong and weak forms of “function words.”
- Do well at oral presentations.

Course Requirements

In order for the students to get benefitted from this course, they are expected to:

- Attend classes regularly.


- Participate in class.
- Do homework assignments.

Attendance helps the students to stay in touch of what the course offers. Participation in class
and doing the homework assignments get the students to practice their English in and out of
class.

Course Evaluation

Grading of the course will be based on the following:

- Participation in class.
- Doing the assignments.
- Final test.
