YACTS AND DISCUSSION: 2, In September 1949, the D/I received what was considered by Hq. AMC to be a final report on the findings of Project Grudge (unidentified aerial objects). Since investigations and analyses did not reveal that so-called “flying seucer"incidenta involved other than miaidentifications of conventional objects, natural phenomena, and some hoax, Hq, AMC asked that the special project activity on such reporte be discontimed, 3. After conversation on 12 September 1949 between Col. Macomber, AVMRD, and Maj. Boggs, AFOAI, (ol. Macomber unofficially reviewed the AMG report on Project Gradge and concurred in a mesorandua prepared for the JIC informing all Services of the Department of Defense on findings and ‘asking for comment on proposal to return reports of flying saucer incidents to normal intelligence interest. 4, Both the Department of the Army and Department of the Navy, through the JIC, have concurred fully in the findings of Project Grudge and concur that the requirement for Project Grudge has been fulfilled. 5. Unwarranted speculation in the press on the nature of flying asucers required that sone public release be made on 27 December 199 by the Air Force, The press was informed that the special project was being A@scontimed and the reasons therefor. Maj. Boggs, APOAI-DA, advised the project officer, Lt, Smith, of this action by telephones z 6. Letter has been prepared to Commanding General, AMC, recommending Ai scontimance of special project action on “flying smacer" reports and advising thet Hq, USAF collection requirements on the subject are being canceled. AMC is asked to retain their project file as the official Steerds, Project Grudge Technical Report ie being forvarded to AFOPO fon ~~ review by the Psychological Warfare Division, as recommended ‘by AMC. Baker, 1310 North WeCann Street, Kokomo, Indiana, sheet metal ‘abricator with the Continehtal Steel Corporation, 1200 jest Warkland, Kokomo, Indiana, Informant stated that, @ awakened by his dog’at 0200, 8 April 1950, he saw an tobject' about two hundred feet in the air, almost directly overhead. This ‘object! was a grayish metal disc approximately fifteen feet in diameter and fifty feet in circumference, shaped approximately like a child's toy top. On the top of the ‘object! he sam a small conning toner as the whole thing tilted occasionally. The 'object? rotated slowly on its perpendicular axis, and informant saw three small port holes on the outer rim. These port holes showed a blue-white light from within. After hovering for apprexinately two mimtes the ‘object! rose soundlessly and without tilting moved away to the north at a speed approxi- mating that of a conventional type of afreraft at take-off.
