AFS is an international volunteer organization created over 90 years by a group of civilian volunteers who carried out work humanitarian during the First and Second World War. At the end of the last great conflict, decided to raise funds for AFS facilitate educational exchange programs between young people from different nationalities in order to gain a better understanding and respect between different cultures. These volunteers created what has become a international organizations volunteers largest in the world. The activity of AFS Intercultural Programs began in 1947 with 52 students 10 European countries were welcomed into families of United States America. Since then, the main goal of AFS has been the promotion of peace and understanding through educational exchange programs. AFS activities are developed on fundamental values such as dignity of all human beings and their cultures. It enhances respect for differences, harmony, sensitivity and tolerance. Promotes intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge,skills and understa nding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

AFS es una organizacin internacional de voluntariado creada hace ms de 90 aos por un grupo de voluntarios civiles que llevaron a cabo labores humanitarias durante la Primera y Segunda Guerra Mundial. Al trmino del ltimo gran conflicto, AFS decidi recaudar fondos para facilitarprogramas de intercambio educativos entre jvenes de diferentes nacionalidades con el fin de lograr una mejor comprensin y respeto entre diferentes culturas. Estos voluntarios crearon lo que se ha convertido en una de las organizaciones internacionales de voluntarios/as ms grandes del mundo. La actividad de AFS Intercultural Programs comenz en 1947, con 52 estudiantes de 10 pases europeos que fueron acogidos en familias de los Estados Unidos de Amrica. Desde ese momento, el objetivo principal de AFSha sido el fomento de la paz y el entendimiento a travs de los programas de intercambio educativos. Las actividades de AFS se desarrollan sobre valores fundamentales como la dignidad de todos los seres humanos y sus culturas. Se potencian el respeto a las diferencias, la armona, la sensibilidad y la tolerancia. AFS reconoce que la PAZ es un concepto dinmico, amenazado por la injusticia y la intolerancia. El objetivo de los programas educativos de AFS es conseguir que las personas acten de manera responsable, como ciudadanos/as globales que trabajan por la paz y la comprensin en un mundo necesariamente diverso. AFS pretende estimular el respeto por los derechos humanos y las libertades fundamentales sin distincin de raza, sexo, lengua, religin o extracto social
