Creating A new Drawing File from Template

Option 1: Add the Templates in the AutoCAD Templates Folder


Steps:
1. Open AutoCAD Application
2. Go to the Template folder (included in the package) and copy the two template files shown
below(with extension”.dwt”).

3. Create a New Drawing file by clicking the big AutoCAD “A” icon and then Click the New
Drawing Icon.

4. When the Template Window Pops up, right click and then Paste the template file.
5. Now you should see the two templates added in the list as shown below. Select your desired
template according to the print media your are planning to use in your print out and you can now
start drawing your project (Do not forget to save your drawing file into your project folder).

Notes:
a. The 20” x 30” Template is our traditional print media for the building permit application
drawings here in the Philippines but, as per the NBCP it provided a standardize sheet
sizes(A3 to A0) for the drawing submittals which can be found in Section 302.4 Figure
III.1.

b. The equivalent size of 20” x 30” (with slight difference) is A1.

Option 2: Use the Drawing Template files.


Steps:
1. Copy your desired drawing template file to your project folder and rename it to your project
name.

2. Open the file and then you can now start drawing your project.
