ABSTRAK
ABSTRAK
Intellectual Disability are children who have a low level of adaptive ability
intelligence and have implications for the child's low self-development ability. In
self-development, students experience difficulties because teachers only use the
lecture method and do not use media to help deliver material. Based on these
problems, an appropriate method is needed, one of which is a drill and practice
method which consists of steps to practice skills repeatedly and practice directly
and needed supporting media, namely with picture books as illustrations of steps
for self-development.
The objectives of this study were: (1) Describe the ability to use sanitary
napkins of mentally retarded female students during the baseline phase (2)
Describe the ability to use sanitary napkins of mentally retarded female students
during the intervention phase (3) Describe whether a drill and practice method
assisted with picture books can improve the ability to use sanitary napkins of
mentally retarded female students.
The research method used in this study is an experiment with the design of
Single Subject Research (SSR) which uses the A-B-A-B model with a percentage
measurement. The subject of this study was the retarded female students of class
X of the National Level Trustees SLB Section C Lawang. Data collection
techniques use non-test techniques, namely observation in the form of task
analysts. Data analysis used is visual analysis of graph data in analysis in
conditions and analysis between conditions.
The results showed that the ability to use sanitary napkins in baseline-1
(A1) conditions was still low with a range of values of 50% -56.8%, in
intervention-1 conditions (B1) tended to be higher around 79.5% -93.2%. while
the baseline-2 phase (A2) tended to be lower at the beginning of the session but
rose again with a range of 88.3% -93.9%, then in the intervention phase 2 (B2)
tended to rise with a score range of 95.4% -97.7%. Drill and practice methods
assisted with picture books can improve the ability to use sanitary napkins as
evidenced by the percentage overlape of 0%.
Based on this study, it can be concluded that the use of drill and practice
methods assisted with picture books can improve the ability to use sanitary
napkins for grade X students. Thus teachers are expected to use drill and practice
assisted with picture books on self-development learning so students can improve
their development skills.
