IT Equipment Disposal Policy and Procedure – HealthReon Connect LLC

The following conditions need to be satisfied prior to classifying the asset as expendable.

 No longer in working condition and repair is not feasible or is not an available option.
 The device is inadequate to serve the required purpose and an upgrade is not feasible.
 The device/s are replaced due to a replacement policy/strategy

Ticket Management – IT Asset Disposable Procedure

1. Create service ticket and mark as an Incident.


2. Use 3rd party application to erase/wipe any writable storage devices such as, Hard Drives, USB Drives, Tape
Drives, CD/DVDs. Etc
3. Update and close ticket

Methods of disposal – If remotely accessible

 If device is accessible remotely, install application (ISO) > Mount File > Run Application > Erase all data
 Obtain Erased Certificate > Upload certificate to Inventory and ticketing system
 Asset/s marked for collection
 Asset/s handed over to be disposed for recycling or destruction

Methods of disposal – If remotely inaccessible

 Physically remove the hard drive and connect to a different device and run application
 If the drive is not working/not readable, physically scratch/damage the drive
 Obtain pictures of damaged drive > Upload pictures to inventory and ticketing system
 Asset/s marked for collection
 Asset/s handed over to be disposed for recycling or destruction
