- Television is the thing I chose to

represent the idea of Maurice

Merleau-Ponty. A television is a smart
device that is used for entertainment.
What makes a television is that it is
composed of different channels. A
television is supposed to have channels
or signals. Just like Merleau-Ponty said
that the mind and body are intertwined
and cannot be separated. The living
body (television), his thoughts,
emotions, and experiences (channels
and signals) are all one.

- This apple represents the idea of Augustine. An

apple is a fruit that bears in a tree and being pick when it
reaches the right age. Upon staying in a market, or in
one’s kitchen, an apple’s freshness will fade and
somehow it will rot. But its seeds will stay and can be used
again for planting. Just like humans, we are bound to die
when our time has come. But our soul never dies, in fact
it stays and live forever. Augustine believes that human
body is bound to die on earth and soul is to anticipate
living eternally with God.

- This pen represents the idea of Thomas Aquinas. He

stated that a man is composed of two parts: matter and
form. Matter is common for all, which is our body, and
form is the essence of a substance or thing that means
character and soul. Like this pen, it has a body that is made
up of plastic just like other pens. But what makes it
different from one another is the ink and tip of it. The ink
may be blue, black, red, or any other color. The tip of a pen
may be thick or thin that makes the stroke different. As a
human, all of us have a body that perhaps makes us similar
to the rest. But what makes us different is our character
that definitely differs from the rest.
