Habbit adalah kebiasaan kebiasaan yang kita sampaikan kepada orang namun kebiasaan tsb hanya

dilakukan pada masa lampau dan tidak mempengaruhi masa depan.

HABITS (kebiasan kebiasaan)

We used to + infinitive to talk about past habits which are now finished(+kata kerja pertama)

1. When I was a child I used to such my thumb

2. Kate used to go swimming a lot , but she never goes swimming now

We also used to for past states and situations which are no longer true(+kata sifat/kata benda)

1. Rober used to be very slim when he was younger

2. She used to be fat when she was still in senior high school

We don’t used to to say how long something happened(tidak menyebutkan waktu)

I used to work in Rome (not: I used to work in rome for six months)

The negative of used to is normally didn’t use to (sdh tidak menggunakan used)

1. I didn’t use to live in London

2. You didn’t use to drink coffee

We also use never used to(adeku dulu tidak pernah makan makanan pedas)

1. You never used to like coffee

2. He never used to play football

We normally from questions with did..use to..?(used nya hilang d nya= use)

1. Where did you use to live ?(dimana dulu anda tinggal)

2. Did you use to fish in the river?(apakah dulu anda memancing di sungai?)

` we can use will to talk about someone’s typical behviour or vharacteristic habits(kebiasaan khas
seseorang/perilaku khas seseorang )(berlaku dari dlu sampai sekarang)(bukan masa lampau)

1. Simon loves music. He’ll (he will)sit for hours listerning his stereo
2. Kate is very kind. She’ll(she will) always help people if she can
We use would with the same meaning to talk about the past(perilaku khas masa lampau)
(dahulu)

1. When I was a child,my father would sometimes take me fishing

2. My grandfather was very absent minded . he would often but something and then leave the
shop without it(kakek saya itu sangat pelupa,dia sering akan membeli sesuatu dan
selanjutnya meninggalkan took tanpa membawa belanjaan tersebut)

Will and would are not stressed in the use. If will and would are stressed(‘)(ditekan)

It suggest cristicism.

1. He ‘will slam the door when he comes in . it really makes me angry(kritikan masa skrng)
2. She borrowed my camera without asking. She ‘would do a thing like that(kritikan masa
lampau)

When we talk about past habits, we can use used to/would(artinya sama)

1. When we children, we used to play football in the rice field

2. When I was a child. My elder brother would take me to the cinema every Sunday

When we talk about past states, we can use used to, but not would(Ketika kita berbicara ttg
masa lampau kita bisa menggunakan used to tdk would)(past states adalah kata yg bisa di ikuti
kata benda dan kata sifat)(dan di ikuti be)

1. My grandfather used to be a policeman (Not: my grandfather would be..)

2. She used to be fat (not : she would be..)
