Anyone who uses KCTCS computers must use them in accordance with the KCTCS Information and Information

Technology Responsible Use Policy. To review the KCTCS policy, click here In addition, anyone using the ECTC Information Technology Department Computer Lab must adhere to the following rules. Failure to follow these rules could result in the revocation of lab privileges. 1. The Lab Technicians and assistants are in charge of the computer lab and their instructions must be followed. 2. The IT Department Computer Lab is intended to be used for educational purposes. Use of the Computer Lab is limited to KCTCS and WKU students, staff, faculty, and graduates. Children of students are not allowed in the lab due to liability issues. 3. You must login with your student ID in order to use a computer. Any rules or regulations that are broken while the computer is logged under your ID will be tracked and traced back to you. It is your responsibility to log off the computer when you are finished using it. 4. Students doing credit course assignments have priority in the lab. Personal browsing of the web and checking email is not considered a priority. 5. Printing is to be limited to educational purposes. Multiple copies from the printers are not allowed. Please use a copy machine to make multiple copies. Please preview/proof material before printing. 6. Printing to the color printer should be done only if the instructor specifically requests color print. 7. The lab is a work environment. Students may work in groups, but be as quiet as possible. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Continued disruption of the lab will be referred to campus security. 8. No personal laptops may be used in the computer lab. 9. Cell phone usage is a disruption. Please turn your phone's ringer off before entering the lab. If you must use your phone, please go into the hallway to do so.

10. Pornography is prohibited in the computer lab and classrooms. In addition, any material found to be offensive to someone else in the lab will result in the lab assistant or technician asking the offender to stop viewing that material. If your instructor has asked for you to view a site that might be questionable, please inform the lab assistant or technician in advance. 11. All software provided by Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is copyrighted. Copying any software, other than freeware or shareware, is prohibited. Students are responsible for registering their copies of shareware. 12. Students are not permitted to install software on units in the lab without consent of the Lab Technicians. (This includes the downloading of shareware, freeware, and evaluation copies of software from the internet.) 13. Copying any copyrighted material, such as music, is prohibited. 14. No food, drinks, or tobacco use in the lab. 15. Use of any of the computers for moneymaking purposes is prohibited. 16. Any computer left unattended for more than 10 minutes will be logged off and made available for other students, no exceptions. 17. Use of computers is limited to two hours. Students working for more than two hours may be asked to give up their machine if someone else needs it. 18. Please bring disks or recordable CDs with you. The lab assistant reserves the right to scan any disk brought in the lab. 19. Please lay all disposable computer paper flat in the box for recycling. 20. In case of a fire alarm or dangerous weather conditions, you must evacuate the room. All computers will be turned off. Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is not responsible for personal items left unattended. 21. Headphones are provided as a courtesy service. Students must return headphones in the same condition as they were given to the student.
