1156. An obligation is a legal need to give, do, or refrain from doing something. (n) Art. 1157.

contribute something has an obligation to care for it with the diligence of a decent parent.

for damages.

Article 1172. Depending on the situation, the courts may control this culpability. Responsibility
stemming from negligence in the performance of any kind of duty is also demandable.

1174 of the Civil Code

Due to the unforeseen or inevitable character of such situations, the Civil Code of the Philippines (the
"Civil Code"), Article (Art.) 1174, exempts obligors from liability for failing to perform contractually
defined duties.
