Nomads plays kamaycha in the Ghadisar Lake in Jaisalmer, India. by Muslianshah Masrie

What is a "tradition"? When does a practice become a tradition? A set of

questions that led to this study centered around architecture and design.
My goal is to create a foundation on my methodology and approach
as a practitioner of this field. Primarily surrounded by our most current
problems while learning from the past in order to create a mobile safety
net.

A milestone I have set for myself while studying architecture was to be

a home owner. To understand what I would want for myself and also set
an anchor, "settle down" as my parents would have called it. However,
given the economic path of this modern world it seems to be more and
more farfetched goal.
Before I travelled to Europe, I must have seen a dozen RV's (recreational
vehicle) and caravans in Hollywood movies, while being oblivious to
the culture it had set. Once I noticed them in France, I learned of the
negative that gathered around them. Mostly to do with criminalising
the nomadic community, ironically those who can afford these vehicles
outside this community are using it for leisure and luxury.

Following the genesis of the respective migratory people branded as

gypsies, it led me back home to India. Interestingly the origin of one of
the mostly popular and mystic tribes was the Sinti's, who are still at large
in India (called Sindhi's).

My interest is towards the evolution of their vessels and the traditions that
followed in contrast to the modern use of caravan for travel and leisure.
In hopes to understanding and developing a traditional manifesto that
acts as a safety net towards our inflating capitalist society.
