Citizens, as key agents of their development and eventual beneficiaries of the
Sustainable Development Objectives, play a critical role not only in terms of effort and
action towards the goals' attainment, but also in terms of the accompanying, learning,
monitoring of progress towards these goals.

Education for sustainable development facilitates the development of the information,
skills, understanding, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to build a sustainable world
that protects and conserves the environment, promotes social fairness, and
encourages economic sustainability.

Direct community engagement promotes the inclusive growth of all its
members. Economic prosperity leads to societal transformation, improved
access to education and healthcare, and increased infrastructure
investment.

As a consumer and steward of our planet, it is my
responsibility to contribute to sustainable development so that
future generations may inherit an environment that is still standing

and capable of providing. So my first responsibility is to be aware of
Agenda 21, particularly its objectives. But remember it must not
stop there, since I still have to find a way how I can enjoy learning
more information about Agenda 21 such as putting it in music to
always catch my interest and will eventually make me keep going in
gathering more information about this.

After I've gathered enough information, my next task is to

Level conduct a self-reflection, also known as a self-assessment. Because self-
assessment will be critical in determining which poor behaviors we must
break or abandon to continue promoting Agenda 21 for our sustainable
development. However, for healthy and helpful habits, I must train or
discipline myself to maintain them. An example of this is the habit of
not planting trees and the habit of saving paper and segregating wastes
in the households; the habit of not panting trees should be put down
to an end because our environment lacks trees that could help in
preventing climate change. While saving paper and segregating wastes
should be maintained by myself to stop the government or businesses
from doing some activities that may cause deforestation.

Last but not least, having a voice is important
on a personal level. It is my duty to have a voice so
that I could share the information and learnings with
others. Agenda 21 knowledge should be distributed to
others for the majority of people to be aware. In
today's world, we have a plethora of options for
spreading information, such as social media. The
proper use of social media may aid in the spread of
knowledge and serve as a means of communication for
promoting and convincing people. I could make use of
my abilities, such as creating a video edit about it,
to capture the attention of many people and
enlighten them.
 For school obligations, the first step they must do is to fix the
educational system ad make it accessible to all citizens despite status
or age in life since the school is the primary source of information in

School every nation. Proper information would help the citizens discipline

Aside from that, schools must find a way on how they will find
a system that will educate citizens especially students and teachers on
how we will conserve materials since schools are also one of the biggest
consumer in a country.

allows people to socialize with

Furthermore, the combination
of technologies and smart
students can help the schools
provide free food and other
materials with the use of energy,

turning cereals into spoons and
forks unlike the disposable
utensils in fast foods.

Schools must inform kids and teenagers
about sex education without getting
uncomfortable. This may be a simple step but
it is a big help to the environment since they
are aware of actions that could make our
population increase. Speaking of population,
this step can help us control the birth rates
because they are mindful of reproductive
systems and how people reproduce. Remember,
the more we control the population the more
the environment can provide.

Barangay leaders and people, regardless of position,

should collaborate at the community level. The barangay
authorities might put in place guidelines that would
encourage residents to take action to make the environment
greener. The finest example, and one that should be applied
everywhere, is the protocol that requires you to plant five

trees before getting married. It’s a win-win situation because
you feel joy due to the thought of getting married while you
help the environment. An article in Rappler proves how
these ‘marriage trees’ are part of efforts by local
municipalities in Benguet Province to combat degradation.
 Poverty is one of the factors that can be a
hindrance for sustainable development. Therefore,

ages is critical to sustainable development. The world is currently
experiencing a global health catastrophe unlike any other – COVID-19 is
causing human agony, undermining the global economy, and upending the
lives of billions of people worldwide. So following health protocols might
help us save humanity and also our Earth. Since we could save up more
budget for the next generations and also lessen the exposure of our front
liners to COVID and any kinds of diseases.
