Press Release BEA 2022 For Jon Althoff Legacy Award
Press Release BEA 2022 For Jon Althoff Legacy Award
October 6, 2022
The annual event is an important opportunity to recognize local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and
business professionals who have made a positive impact in the Dakota County region, while
demonstrating a strong commitment to their industries and the community. This year’s theme is “LATE
NIGHT with DCR Chamber” and the award will be presented Friday, October 28, at the Radisson Blu-Mall
of America from 5:30 – 9:30pm.
“We are honored and excited to announce Jon Althoff as the 2022 Legacy Award honoree. Jon’s
steadfast leadership, commitment to the community, and ongoing commitment of the chamber’s work
is commendable,” said Maureen Scallen Failor, president of the Dakota County Regional Chamber. The
Legacy Award highlights the individual’s exemplary work in the community, and support of the
Chamber’s initiatives.
Jon's greatest honor is being married to his college sweetheart, Jane, for over 38 years. They share
three daughters, twins Allison and Stephanie, and Jennifer their youngest, with their husbands
Christopher, Paul and Eric, and 2 grandchildren (Zephaniah Jon and Madden Jane with a 3rd on the way
due Valentine's Day). And there are the dogs, Rocky, Bear, Thor, Sonic and Gizmo, all very much a part of
the Family. Together, they all make up Jon and Jane's greatest joy. They have all been super supportive
of Jon in his career and volunteer/civic opportunities. His wife and two of his three daughters are breast
cancer survivors, and the reason behind why he is co-chair for the American Cancer Society's State of
MN Real Men Wear Pink campaign to end breast cancer.
HIs Illinois College degree in Business with minors in History and Political Science was followed by his
MBA with a Marketing concentration from Washington University in St. Louis. He served as President of
both institution's student bodies. His career started in Product Management with General Mills (a
company he joyfully worked for twice) that led to general management and P&L responsibility. In 2000,
he was selected as a Champion Award recipient, recognizing him as one of the company's top 30
contributing employees worldwide. He rose to the position of Vice President of Sales within Nestle USA,
and most recently was Sr. Director of Marketing/Sales with Skyline Exhibits in Eagan, MN. When Covid
struck the trade show industry, he set out on a new career, founding Parachute Consulting Group LLC, a
boutique Sales and Marketing consultancy. This allows for more time for family, dogs, new grandbabies,
and more DCR Chamber and Foundation work.
Jon has served as Chairman of the DCR Chamber board, as head of the
Communications committee, served on the Nominations and Executive committees, and currently
serves on the Business Recovery and Resources Committee. He is most proud of two things, being a part
of the Presidential Search Committee Team that brought Maureen Scallen Failor to the DCR Chamber,
and second, helping to rebuild the DCR Charitable Foundation. Over his time on the Board, Jon has
rewritten the bylaws for both the Chamber and the Charitable Foundation to make them more
accountable and operationally efficient. And Jon loves a good ribbon cutting! Meeting with business
leaders who put it all on the line, implement a great idea, and are meeting market needs, inspires him.
