Given the introduction of hybrid vehicles by Toyota del Ecuador S.A., the need to create a hybrid battery recycling process is required in order to eliminate any risk of environmental contamination.
The process to follow is detailed below:
1. Client acquires hybrid vehicle. 2. The vehicle suffers an accident that causes damage to the hybrid battery or it has already met with its useful life. 3. Customer brings their vehicle to the dealer for repair. (CASABACA, IMPORTER TOMEBAMBA OR TOYOCOSTA) 4. The hybrid battery must be replaced. 5. Toyota technician disables and discharges battery cells. (Diagnosis made by the Lead Technician of each Concessionaire) 6. The dealer packs, labels and stores the hybrid battery in its warehouse of storage. to. In the event of a warranty claim, it is processed, and the battery remains in the custody of the concessionaire. b. In the event of an accident, the insurance company through agreements with Toyota Transfer the battery to be stored at the dealer. In case the insurer decides to keep the battery will be made to sign a letter of release of responsibility on it. c. In case the customer directly purchases the battery, the dealer will not can deliver the battery to be replaced without having the customer sign a letter of release of responsibility on the same. 7. The environmental manager certified to transport this type of material collects and the transport of batteries to the facilities of the company "VERTMONDE". 8. The company "VERTMONDE" stores the batteries until the quantity is collected necessary to be dispatched. 9. The company "VERTMONDE" packs the batteries in compliance with regulations international to proceed with its export to the company "UMICORE" in Brussels, Belgium. 10. “UMICORE” proceeds to neutralize the chemical components of the battery. 11. “UMICORE” through its internal processes recycles the batteries, managing to recover the 100% of it.
