Materials I

A mechanical engineering course examining the physical and


chemical principles of materials used in industry and their physical
and chemical principles as they relate to structures, properties,
corrosion, and engineering applications. Major consideration is
given to steel and metal alloys, manufacturing of steel, heat
treatment, hardening, carbon and alloy steels, tool steel, and stainless
steel. Ann introduction to polymers, ceramics and composites are
also included.
