A mechanical engineering course examining the physical and
chemical principles of materials used in industry and their physical and chemical principles as they relate to structures, properties, corrosion, and engineering applications. Major consideration is given to steel and metal alloys, manufacturing of steel, heat treatment, hardening, carbon and alloy steels, tool steel, and stainless steel. Ann introduction to polymers, ceramics and composites are also included.
