State symbols of the UK (the flag of the UK, the Royal Coat of Arms, the National Anthem of the

UK).

Тhe flag of the UK

The design was created by King James VI and I for use on ships on the high seas and later came into use
as the national flag after the Treaty of Union and the Act of Union in 1707, gaining the status of
"Heraldic Flag of Great Britain", the newly created state. It was later adopted for use by land forces,
although the blue field color used in land versions was more reminiscent of the blue of the Scottish flag.

claws and tongue azure; in the third azure quarter the coat of arms of Ireland: a golden harp with silver
strings; the shield surmounted by a golden tournament helmet surmounted by a royal crown; a golden
tent lined with an ermine; on the helmet a golden crowned leopard standing with silver claws and red
tongue; around the shield the ribbon of the Most Noble Order of the Garter; on the right, a golden

gold on a silver, with a gold border, a ribbon lined with gold.

History of the creation of the coat of arms

Three leopards (or lions marching guard) on a red field of the shield appeared under Richard I. The
heraldic shield with leopards remained for a long time the only symbol of England. During the period
During the Hundred Years' War, Edward III, as a sign of his claim to the French throne, divided the shield
and placed in two quarters a field of golden lilies, the symbol of France.James I, who ruled both England
and Scotland, supplemented the coat of arms with the emblems of Scotland - a red lion - and Ireland - a
golden harp. The figures of the holders of the shield have changed several times over the centuries: a
falcon, a swan, a white boar - the breastplate of Richard III, a red Welsh dragon. Since 1603, a unicorn
and a crowned British lion have established themselves in this place.

Тhe National Anthem of the UK

God Save the King або God Save the Queen is the unofficial anthem of Great Britain. The use of the song
as a national anthem has never been approved by royal decree or Act of Parliament, but it has been
used by tradition.
