ABSTRACT

The long-term relationships that LTFH has with its

clients and communities are critical to the
company's long-term viability. LTFH's strategy
includes long-term nurturing of these ties. The
CSR Committee develops the Company's CSR
strategy, establishes a framework, and directs the
operations to be contracted by the Company to
create long-term value for Dalit/Adivasi, BPL

CORPORATE families, and widows. LTFH thinks that peer

learning is a powerful tool for persuasion and
development. Digital Sakhis from various states

SOCIAL
participated in virtual peer learning sessions
organized by the company. LTFH built a space for
"shared learning" as a result of this.

1. Please explain why you feel that the LTFH’s approach to CSR is strategic in
nature.

The CSR method of LTFH would result in greater monetary skill and fluency among the
impoverished and economically weaker parts of the farm industry. This may help increase
public awareness and familiarity with the company's financial services. Because girls are
the key decision-makers in the rural economy when it comes to cost management, this will
hasten the growth of the customer base, which will help the economy. The strategy also
takes into account the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, as well as the
government's many measures to encourage women's empowerment, rural entrepreneurship,
and digitalization. A firm's CSR (corporate social responsibility) plan must pay 2% of its
net earnings over the preceding three fiscal years, and this is a semi-permanent investment
with a circular impact on the company. In addition to all of the above, this plan will boost
the company's overall recognition, as well as its brand image and reputation.

2. With a careful reading done of the case study, please write at least one linkage of
the given 6 elements of the LTFH’s CSR intervention design given.

 UN Sustainable Development Goals for Property: The Digital Sakhi Project at

LTFH is in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for Property.
By teaching individuals who are underrepresented in society digital skills.
 ‘Business proximity: L&T Finance's monetary arm, LTFH, trains and informs
people in rural regions about digital transactions.
 Community needs: In rural areas, credit and lending organisations are still
disorganised, and many innocent individuals fall prey to unscrupulous lenders.
 Social Return on Investment:- The initiative not only raises awareness about
digital financial literacy and empowers rural women to create businesses and
provide for their families, but it also aids them in doing so. They also identify a
group of female entrepreneurs who will be trained in agricultural trades and will be
able to expand their businesses in the future.
 The impact on the last mile is as follows: Digital Sakhis are effective instruments
for delivering a range of digital monetary services to the final mile in rural regions.

 National & Regional Goals and plans:- LTFH designed and implemented DS
with the idea that monetary skill should be complemented by bread and butter
creation to ensure community interest and participation in the programme, in line
with the Asian nation's vision of creating a digital India focused on monetary skill
through the cultivation and adoption of digital modes of payment.

3. Imagine yourself as the company’s CSR Head. You are asked to identify one more
flagship program in alignment with the Vision and Mission of the LTFH. Please
write your answer under the following points explaining your program design: -
 Thrust Area
 SDGs to be addressed
 Brief description of the intervention
 Tentative budget

Key Performance Indicators of the given program

Thrust Area:

With the alignment of LTFH's vision and purpose, a CSR activity was created to enhance
children's nutrition by delivering a high-quality mid-day meal in rural regions with zero
food waste, and this CSR activity was given the name "SAMADHAN."

SDGs to be addressed:

This particular CSR action, “SAMADHAN”, also supports the objective of “Zero Hunger-
(No Hunger)”, which is one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs).

Brief description of intervention:

Through this CSR initiative, the company will provide the finest quality meals to school
pupils in remote regions. If there is any food left over at the end of the day, it is either
packed for the student if he or she is unable to complete the lunch or freely distributed
among the village's poor. This CSR project will be implemented in a Maharashtra village
that is severely economically challenged on a trial basis.

Tentative Budget:

Key Performance Indicators of the given program:

 Social contribution
 Time spent by volunteers
 Total impact created

4. What is your understanding of the DS program? Please write a short note which
should cover its methodology, inputs, outputs, outcomes and impact.

Digital Sakhi is a rural lady with a digital device who is confident in her ability to provide
digital financial literacy instruction to 100 women in the pilot programme. Because
everything will be digital in the future, every rural woman will know how to utilise the
different digital means of payment in the months ahead.

"This endeavour is a step forward for women; throughout Gandhi and Ambedkar's time,
they were never left behind." Women have always been eager to make a statement and take
part in Marches. This programme is a test to assess if they can support themselves
financially. Every woman should be granted a position that comprises both empowerment
and self-sufficiency.

They must earn respect everywhere they go as a wife, a daughter-in-law, and a woman. We
need to change people's perceptions of women, and this programme will assist us in doing
so. Because digital money is paperless and contactless, it reduces the risk of contracting the

coronavirus when making payments. Digital Sakhis were given training on a range of
payment systems, including UPI 2.0 and its guidelines, by the National Payments
Corporation of India (NPCI). They've also provided expertise, education, and
communication resources to Digital Sakhis, which they're utilising to encourage the use of
digital money as the safest payment method. Digital Sakhi is also working with a number
of nationalised banks to set up AEPS-enabled ATMs so that people of the community may
get cash. In addition, this Digital Sakhi works with healthcare experts and trained social
health activists to conduct government COVID-19 surveys. They post the information to
the government's website and actively promote the "Aarogya Setu" application, which
tracks coronavirus cases and disseminates prevention measures and instructions. Digital
Sakhi is one such initiative, which aims to empower rural women by educating them how
to use digital technology for financial inclusion and strengthening their capacity to do so.

5. Please try to find out what are the prominent opportunities for the long-term
sustainability of the DS program. While writing your thoughts, please try to
establish linkages with few more Government programs with which there would
be a possibility of convergence?

In rural India, women's access to money remains a challenge. L&T Financial Services, a
financial services company, created the "Digital Sakhi" campaign as part of their CSR
department in 2016 to address this issue. "A dependable friend or partner who is sincerely
anxious to assist," Sakhi explains. By combining inclusive growth and digital banking, this
initiative advances SDG 5 on gender equality and women's empowerment. In rural and
semi-urban areas, the Digital Sakhi programme strives to improve awareness of alternative
payment options. As a result, social enterprises are under increasing pressure to accept
electronic payments. The most important initiative, Digital Sakhi, continues to be focused
on regional communities. We guarantee that the programme is updated to fit the needs of
our community by analysing the attitudes of our primary stakeholders in rural areas,
including partners. Rural people in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have adopted Internet
transactions more quickly and widely. In the meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha,
job development and income growth were prioritised, followed by financial management
principles, and finally mobile money services. The initiative is seen as a beneficial example
in most states, and it aims to encourage it in order to increase public trust and help

individuals benefit from the programmes to which they are assigned. In the locations where
L&T Financial Services' Digital Sakhi will benefit from the ongoing initiative, Digital
Sakhis will function as a middleman, allowing individuals to conduct transactions. Rural
families serve as change agents in Digital Sakhi, a model solution that integrates the digital
world with the economy, regulations, and employment prospects. With the support of the
government, other businesses, and intergovernmental finance organisations, it will be
necessary to better create and build such feasible initiative models.
