Course Description
The course emphasizes contemporary theories and research on the cognitive, meta-cognitive, motivational, socio-
cultural, and individual difference factors in the acquisition of knowledge. The course coverage shall focus on the
contemporary theories and research on learning. The exploration and discussion of these theories and research will focus
on how these apply to the Philippines, regional, local and personal experience. More importantly, the processing of the
theories and research will emphasize how the teacher may use the various ideas to better facilitate the learning
processes among students.

Course intended Learning After completing this course, STUDENTS MUST HAVE DEMONSTRATED
Outcomes (CILO)
1. the basic and higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, learning skills needed for higher
learning;
2. a deep principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating these
processes in their students;
3. a deep and principles understanding of how educational processes relate to larger historical, social, cultural, and
political processes;
4. a meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter they will teach;
5. an application of a wide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning,
materials development, educational assessment and teaching approaches);
6. a direct experience in the field/classroom (e.g. classroom observations, teaching assistance, practice teaching);
7. and practiced the processional and ethical requirements of the teaching processions;
8. a skill to facilitate learning of diverse types of learners, in diverse types of learning environments, using a wide
range of teaching knowledge and skills;
9. a reflection on the relationships among the teaching process skills, the learning processing in the students, the
nature of the content/subject matter and the broader social forces encumbering the school and the education
processes in order to constantly improve their teaching knowledge, skills and practices;
10. a creative and innovative in thinking of alternative teaching approaches, take informed risks in trying out these
innovative approaches and evaluate the effectiveness of such approaches in improving student learning and

Course Policies Language of Instruction. The language of instruction is English. In the teaching and learning presentation, however, the Ilocano
dialect may be used in the group work, collaboration and discussion so as to express deeply the things needed to obtain an
output among the students.
Attendance. The college rule on a 54 – hour attendance applies: 20% absence is considered failed or dropped, as the case may be.
There will be a make-up class to be arranged by the instructor if the class is interrupted due to school wide activities. Those
who cannot come on the examination day are advised to take the test on the day prior to the schedule.
Homework, Written Reports and Other Requirements. Course requirements must be returned in following the scheduled dates.
If you cannot make it on time, give your outputs to a classmate to submit for you. Failure to submit requirements shall merit a
reduction of score.
Portfolio. The portfolio is a form of assessment for this class. Each of you is expected to compile all forms class outputs, homework,
worksheet, readings and other items in your portfolio at the end of the semester. Prepare the Title Page and following it is the
Table of Contents. Bring your portfolio on a schedule assigned by the instructor.
Honor, Dress and Grooming Code. You are enjoined to wear the prescribed uniform of the college with your ID worn at all times.
Respect administrators, faculty and staff of the college as well as to your classmates and other students shall be observed. You
are obliged to follow all school policies and regulations.
Deficiencies. Incomplete grades have to be attended to within a year.
