TEACHING LISTENING
Lead-in (Warm-up):
Teacher ask a question about some dangerous disease in the world: show the pictures of some
common disease including AIDS and let students guess the names.
Introduction:
On the tape, we’re going to hear a monologue about AIDS. We will also hear some ways that
AAGs (AIDS Advocacy Groups) try to improve health care to fight AIDS
Present the vocabulary:
Before we listen, there are just some words you might not know.
The first word is “illegal”.
Teacher gives a situation: A man sells product, for example: cigarette, drug, cannabis,etc
which are prohibited in that country. So we call his action is illegal because it is against the law.
The second one is “profits”.
Teacher gives an situation: Linda sells cosmetics. She earns 500,000 dollars per month. She
has to minus 380,000 dollars that she used to import the goods. So she earns 120,000 dollars as
profits.
PRE-LISTENING TASK
Giving guiding question:
Now we are going to listen to the type. Just hear some gists: The seriousness of AIDS? Some
measures that AAGs have taken?
SECOND LISTENING TASK (listen for details)
